Dentist

Southview Dental offers restorative dental services which can range from repairing simple decayed or broken teeth with fillings to restore the esthetics and function of a damaged tooth to full coverage crowns. Dental crowns serve as a cap to protect a weak tooth, restore a broken tooth, or cover and support a large filling. Southview Dental uses various types of crowns including stainless steel, metals such as gold, porcelain-fused-to-metal, all-resin, and all-ceramic.

Our pediatric dental services include gentle cleanings, fluoride treatments, protective sealants, and monitoring of the child’s teeth and jaw as they grow.

To replace all teeth, or even just a few, Southview Dental offers dentures. We will first measure your jaw and mouth for fit, and then determine the type of dentures you need. Conventional dentures can be placed to restore a mouth in which all teeth are missing. Partial dentures can be used to fill in anywhere from one missing tooth to almost all of them. Multiple types of partial dentures are available from traditional metal frameworks to completely metal-free partial dentures.

Depending on the condition of the affected tooth, extraction may be a better option than a filling, crown, or root canal. Southview Dental offers extractions of all teeth, including wisdom teeth. In some cases due to complexity or anatomical considerations referral to an out of office Oral Surgeon may be necessary.

Root canals are treatments for the inside of the tooth. This is necessary the pulp becomes inflamed or infected. The need for a root canal can result from deep decay, very large restorations, or a crack in the tooth that causes infection. During a root canal, the inflamed or infected pulp is removed and the inside of the tooth is cleaned and disinfected. Then it is filled and sealed with a rubber-like material. A crown is often placed over the tooth to protect it.

For patients dealing with significant dental anxiety, we may be able to offer oral sedation. Oral sedation is used to reduce anxiety and can be prescribed, as needed, prior to the appointment. Anti-anxiety medication is taking prior to the appointment, the patient will remain conscious throughout the appointment but will not be able to drive after. It is recommended to have someone to look after them until the medication has worn off.

Bridges

In cases where a tooth has been lost Southview Dental can fabricate bridges for your teeth, which consist of one or more false teeth designed to “bridge” a gap caused by missing teeth. Bridges are anchored with crowns on either side of the missing tooth and are permanently put in place. Our dentists can consult with you about the right type of bridge for you and what to expect during the procedure.

Teeth

Southview Dental offers dental implants, which can be an alternative to dentures or bridges.  Implants are prosthetic teeth that take the place of missing teeth. Titanium cylinders are surgically placed into the bone by an external specialist and allowed to heal into the bone. After healing measurements are taken and the missing tooth or teeth are restored. Implants are durable and are not routinely removed like dentures are, they can be used to replace a single missing tooth, multiple missing teeth or support a full arch bridge or denture.
